Culver Elementary October Newsletter 2017
WELCOME to Culver Elementary…..
I would like to welcome you and your child to Culver Elementary School. Our school is full of knowledge, enthusiasm, challenge, creativity, rigor, support and encouragement. Our dedicated teaching staff and support personnel strive to provide for each student’s individual needs. We encourage your support and assistance throughout the school year so that your child will have a successful and rewarding year.
We always encourage parents to be a positive partner in your child’s education. Make it known to your child that you value education. Let your child see you supporting his or her endeavors here at school by attending programs, volunteering to chaperone field trips, helping out with classroom activities, or most importantly, talking to your child about school and the importance of it.
It is a pleasure to have you as a member of our Culver family. We are looking forward to working with each and every one of you as we embrace the new school year, continue to build on the tradition of academic excellence and provide a positive learning experience.
This upcoming year brings some new and exciting changes to Culver Elementary School. We are pleased to announce a couple new staff members at Culver Elementary School. We have Miss Sarah Bailey as our new kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Paula Krause as our new third grade teacher, and Mrs. Erika James as our new High Ability Coordinator/teacher.
We are also excited to announce our new "High Ability" program which will advance those students in first through fifth grade who are in need of more unique and challenging academic experiences. This program will aide in the advancement of those students as they move up through the Middle/High School.
The classroom layout within the building, is another new change that was made early in the summer. All of the CBGC classrooms have moved into the second grade hallway and the second grade classrooms are now located upstairs in the third grade hallway. Our gym floor has gotten a dramatic upgrade and so has our media center pit. We can’t wait to see you on August 1st from 6:00-7:00. Bring in your student’s school supplies and meet the teachers! Our wonderful PTO will also be having an ice cream social for the kids during Open House!!
Best wishes for a successful year!!!

Culver Elementary School also provides services to special education students in the areas of hearing impairment, emotional disability, learning disability, mild mental disability, and communication disorder.
We have been using the 3-Tier Reading Model for several years. We administer the DIBELS assessment to all students three times a year.
Culver Elementary School has a principal and an assistant principal. We have 35 certified teachers on staff with the support of 28 additional personnel who serve as secretaries, classroom assistants, cooks and custodians. We share a social worker and guidance counselor with two other schools in the corporation. We also share a school nurse and two technology specialists throughout the corporation.
